Sewing, Machine Applique, Software, Embroidery and Club – classes and project fun for everyone
We have been busy over the past few weeks with wonderful classes and our Club morning, sharing our love of everything sewing, embroidery and patchwork. Jo has been busy helping the lovely ladies in her Own Choice sewing class, Di has been sharing her love of embroidery software with her 6D software class, Susan showed a full class of women the fun you have with machine applique, Julie had a very busy afternoon with Mystery Embroidery and we had a guest speaker at our Club morning tea this week.
Jo is our sewing teacher and loves to share her love of sewing with not only adults but with the up and coming sewers in our children. On Monday evening and Wednesday morning she teaches learn to sew to beginners and on Tuesday evening and Friday morning you can come along and use Jo’s knowledge to assist you in completing a project of your choice. She also teaches Kids classes during the school holidays and one Saturday afternoon a month for kids aged 8-12 years who love to be creative. During the recent school holidays our little girls come in and made beanies, which they loved wearing out of the store after class.
Di teaches a class once a Month on a Sunday where shows you how best to use your 6D software package. This class is loaded with information and every month there is a wonderful project to complete. The last class project saw everyone work on and complete this cute owl.
Susan is our patchwork guru but she also has a wide knowledge of sewing techniques. Susan has been teaching a range of specialty classes lately, once of which was an Machine Applique Techniques workshop. This class was very popular and sold out quickly and because of this we have put on additional classes, so if you are interested contact the store to enrol.
Julie has a very large class yesterday for Mystery Embroidery were 15 ladies attended the afternoon and worked on a “Christmas in July” themed pot holder. Julie teaches this class three times a month so if embroidery is a passion that you can share with others, then come along for a class filled with loads of laughs and fun. If you are a true lover of embroidery, remember that you could join Julie and Lesley in Cairns in August for four days of embroidery on the new Janome MC15000 machine at the Early May Conference. If you want any information on either the class or the conference, give us a call.
This month at Club we had Rick from Victorian Textiles join us and share his extensive knowledge of wadding with the ladies who attended Club. He explained the differences between each type of wadding and how they manufacture the waddings we stock at Sewco in their own mill here in Australia. We were also priveldged to be the first in the world to be shown a brand new wadding which is lightweight but retains heat. Everyone was impressed with how this wadding was so light and yet when you wrapped your hand inside the sample and how warm your hand became quickly. They also said this wadding would be great for use for anyone who prefers their quilt to be lighter in weight but will keep you warmer in winter.
