New Anita Goodesign Embroidery Discs have arrived this week
Christmas in July is the theme of the new releases from Anita Goodesign this month. There are many different projects including Pot Holders and 3D Christmas Trees as well as wonderful embroidery designs that can be used to personalise your Christmas gift ideas. Now is the perfect time to start getting ready for the Santa Season as it will be here before we know it.
Rosemåling, or Rosemaling is Norwegian for “decorative painting” and it has a very distinct style that incorporates stylized flower ornamentation, scrollwork, lining and geometric elements, often in flowing patterns. The designs were traditionally painted on wood. We decided to not only create an embroidered Rosemaling collection but a Christmas one. These designs are truly unique and beautiful. There are over 20 main designs with dozens of smaller designs and variations. All of the large designs come in multiple sizes to fit most hoop sizes. These designs will look wonderful on whatever you stitch them on. For our project we stitched them on small mantle covers. Uses 5×5, 6x 10 and jumbo hoops.
Mylar is a very shiny plastic material that you will immediately recognize from balloons you’ve purchased at party stores. You can order Mylar online in a huge assortment of colors. These quilt blocks have been specifically designed for Mylar but you can use any fabric with them. There are 20 different main blocks as well as 7 different border designs. You can make anything from a pillow to a large quilt using all of them.
MERRY AND BRIGHT
For the Merry and Bright Christmas collection you will find adorable Christmas characters and animals and make them whimsical and fun with long legs, colorful socks and boots and lots of personality. The end result is sure to bring smile to your face. There are reindeer, Santa’s, snowmen, polar bears and much more. Each design comes in multiple sizes and looks great on anything you decide to embroider them on. Uses 5”x 7”, 6”x 10” and jumbo hoops.
This collection has 12 different Christmas blocks with two different styles of transitional blocks that go between them. We used a regular satin stitch as a finishing stitch for the applique designs with a blanket stitch surrounding it; by using this technique you will have a cleaner edge with a beautiful blanket stitch border. We also used linen as our background fabric for a different look.
CHRISTMAS POT HOLDERS
Christmas Pot Holders are created by embroidering 2 different designs. The first is the front of the potholder and the second is the back. The back is created all at once using a unique hooping technique. You will not be able to make enough of these pot-holders because everyone will want one! Pot-holder designs are for the 7” x 5” and 7” x 8”. Individual designs are in sizes 7” x 4” and 9” x 5”.
Add a vintage touch to Christmas this year with these free standing lace Christmas ornaments. There are two different types, one is a Christmas Ball Wrap and the other is Free-Standing Lace. They are embroidered on wash-away stabilizer in a few easy steps. Once they are finished, to make an ornament you simply rinse them and drape them over a Christmas ball, or add a hook to make it free-standing lace ornament! The designs are truly beautiful and will become an heirloom that will be cherished for generations.
As the name suggests, this tree is 3-dimensional and consists of 3-piece double-sided panels, assembled in the 6×10 hoop, which are then sewn together to make a free-standing multi-panel tree standing an impressive 16½” tall (not counting the top bow). Also included is a double-sided tree mat (14¼” across at its widest point), created entirely in the hoop, to which you may hand tack the tree for additional stability or use as a festive plate charger/ placemat. The tree features fleece batting and lots of pretty decorative stitching and offers countless opportunities for embellishments, and the mat features traditional diamond-motif quilting as well as fleece batting. So take advantage of the gorgeous holiday fabrics now in the stores and get in the holiday spirit in 3D!
And If you are wanting a project to work on as a Christmas gift that is not Christmas themed, these projects would be ideal.

What’s in a name? In this case, the name says it all! This set is designed for the 4×4 hoop (hence the “little”) and is a perfect venue for the ever-popular charm packs (hence the “charmer”)! The set consists of 17 mix-and-match blocks completed entirely in the hoop, which are joined in the hoop in columns and then sewn together to form a doily, a table runner, a placemat, a pillow top, or even a quilt!
Each block features a front and back fabric and dense fleece batting and lots of decorative stitching. Several of the blocks are crazy-quilt style with true turned-under seam allowances. The sample shown is a perfect centerpiece size (16” x 26.5”), and the tutorial details how to expand the size according to your project.
