Well can you believe that we are already into August and the 2012 London Olympic Games are here? We hope that you have enjoyed staying up late watching the Olympics, whilst completing your sewing, patchwork or quilting projects. It is hard to fathom how fast time goes by and that we are almost at the end of 2012!

At Sewco Sewing and Patchwork this means that we are as busy as ever planning for the upcoming Spring Carnival and many other special events leading up to the end of the year.

Mad Quilters Gathering Sydney 3-5 August 2012

This past week, we were a hive of activity as we were busy planning, preparing and organising our store display for the Mad Quilters Gathering in Sydney this weekend.  Sewco Sewing and Patchwork will be at stand 88 so if you happen to be in or around Sydney this weekend, make sure you come and visit us at the Penrith Panthers Leagues Club where we can assure you will find everything you need to get started or complete your quilting & patchwork projects. Lesley, Rhonda and Jillan will be on hand to assist you, so please drop in and say hello and complete the entry form for your chance win a fantastic Singer 160 Sewing Machine RRP $699. (Please note the entry forms can only be completed and submitted to the Sewco Team at the Mad Quilters Gathering in Sydney, not in-store at Sewco).

However, for those of you who could not make the Mad Quilters Gathering in Sydney this weekend, you are also in the running for a mystery prize.  The person who correctly guesses the outfit the Sewco Girls are wearing to the Mad Quilters Gathering this weekend will go in the draw to win a prize. The winner will be drawn on Tuesday 7 August 2012 and announced in Snippets next week (all Sewco Team members cannot enter and are sworn to secrecy!) .

3) Post a comment on our Facebook Page telling us what you think the Sewco Girls are wearing at the Mad Quilters Gathering (for example – I think the Sewco Girls will be wearing stripey socks).

Here are some of the wonderful items being completed at Sewco this week.

Elaine Williamson

This picture certainly doesn’t do justice to the amount of work Elaine Williamson put into this banner. Elaine Williamson was set the challenge by her husband to make a Tullibardine Lodge Banner. Elaine found a faded picture of the Tullibardine Lodge Banner and set to work using her Husqvarna VIKING 4D Software to create a digitized picture and matched perfectly the picture. Elaine only has the border and a few finishing touches left until this project is completed. Fantastic job Elaine! I know that your husband and the other members of the Tullibardine Lodge will love their new banner.

 Val Wilson

Again, the photo doesn’t show the exquisite detail in this Hoop Sisters 28 Block Goose Track Quilt that Val Wilson completed recently. Val has been working intermittently over the past 12 months on this quilt and brought in the completed quilt this week and we were all thrilled to see the finished result. Congratulations Val on completing this beautiful quilt! We can’t wait to see your next project!
