Welcome everyone to this weeks Snippets provided to you by Sewco Sewing and Patchwork Centre.

We were very busy this week with the Beginners Quilt Class, Pattern Making using the Maria Martin Pattern Drafter, Intermediate Quilt, Beginners Sewing and Own Choice Sewing, Mystery Embroidery, Sweet Sixteen Day with Christine from Handi Quilter, Know your Overlocker 2, Small Projects  and our new class Infinity and Beyond Quilt.

The week commencing 24 June, we have an exciting range of classes available listed below.  To register for a class please call 3849 4176 or email mtgravatt@sewcosewingandpatchwork.com.

To avoid overcrowding, it is essential that you book in for each class whether you are a new member attending our classes or existing. This is to ensure that there are enough teacher resources per student available.

 PYJAMA PARTY

As I type these Snippets our Pyjama Party is in full swing. Thank you to Jennene from Brother for coming along and demonstrating BobbinWork which is especially good for embellishing. Brother have a speciality bobbin case that are especially designed for heavier and decorative threads. The threads are sewn upside down on the face of fabric. It really was unbelievable to witness. ANITA GOODESIGN EMBROIDERY TRUNK SHOW 29 JUNE 10am-12:30pm

Karen from Anita Goodesign’s is joining us with the wonderful embroidery designs samples from Anita Goodesign’s. These samples come all the way from the USA for us to see.

At Sewco we love the new Anita Goodesign “Tree of Life”. What a great way to document your family tree! This collection makes it easy with individual personalized leaves that can be stitched on the quilt as your family tree grows. This design collection consists of 70 blocks and the largest size quilt when finished is 52” x 74”. There are 4 different size blocks. Collection includes a full color printed tutorial book.

Our very own Sandy is getting started on making her Anita Goodesign “Tree of Life” so we will keep you up to date with the progress.

SCHOOL HOLIDAYS – TEENAGE SEWING CLASSES

We have a number of fantastic kids and teenager sewing classes at Sewco over the June/July 2012 school holidays. There are kids classes to suit children aged from 8-12 years and teenage sewing classes to suit 13 + years. The classes are well suited for beginners to confident sewers.

2 Day Course
Thursday 28 June 2012 and Friday 29 June 2012

Teenage Sewing with Karen (Lesson 1/2 Thursday and Lesson 2/2 Friday)

• Project Making an Amy Butler Frenchy Bag
• Cost $ 100 for both days
• Age group 12 years +
• Skill level – beginners to confident sewers

What to bring:

• Lunch

Kids Sewing with Jo  (Lesson 1/2 Tuesday and Lesson 2/2 Thursday)

• Project Making Flannelette Pyjama Pants
• Cost $ 50 for both days
• Age group 8-12 years
• Skill level – beginners to confident sewers

What to bring:

• Morning tea
• Flannelette Material (twice the childs length of fabric + 20cm is required)
• Good working machine with foot controller and lead (Machines can be hired from Sewco for $10)
• Machine Instuction Manual
• Scissors
• Note book and pencil
• Pins
• Thread
• Tape Measure
• Elastic waist 2cm wide

SEWCO SUPERSTAR OF THE WEEK

Each day we have so many inspirational and individual designs emerging from each class.  We have so many talented customers. This week, Jane Wilson completed her beautiful queen size quilt that was created for her very dear friend Helen. Fantastic work Jane, we are proud of your gorgeous creation and we are certain Helen will love it.

CONGRATULATIONS IN ORDER – ST AGNES FETE

Congratulations to Dianne Irvine from Mt Gravatt who recently won a Sewco Voucher for a Sewing Machine Service valued at $150 when attending the St. Agnes Fete. Well done Dianne.
